From Climate Commitments to SME Capital: Africa’s Missing Middle

Global climate finance now exceeds USD 1 trillion annually, yet Africa receives less than 3% of these flows. The issue is not a lack of capital, but an implementation gap. Climate finance only scales when it moves through existing banking systems aligned to real SME demand, institutional constraints, and commercial reality. This is where Africa’s climate transition will be financed.
